In June, HomeMade Pizza Co closed its doors unexpectedly. Now some of those locations are set to re-open under a new name. The concept behind the restaurants (take-and-bake) remains the same.
Bill Borneman was able to acquire eight of the HomeMade Pizza Co locations. He also was able to purchase some of their equipment in July. He was in the process of opening his first pizza restaurant called Bake 425 when HomeMade Pizza Co shut down.
“We were weeks away from opening when HomeMade went dark,” he says. “I didn’t necessarily envision that we would grow this fast.”
It is Borneman’s plan to reopen the former restaurants under his brand. The eight restaurants are located in Winnetka, Lake Forest, Glencoe, Hinsdale, Glenview, Lakeview and two in Evanston. There were other locations not purchased by Borneman. They will be liquidated.
Borneman points out the differences between his brand and HomeMade Pizza Co because of his ingredients. He uses organic or locally sourced ingredients.
